‘Claimant must prove ownership of Baywalk property’

AN independent vice mayoralty candidate of Bacolod City said that whoever claims ownership of the property now occupied by Baywalk at the city’s reclamation area should show proof or evidence that they are the rightful owners.
Lawyer Renecito Novero of “Magnificent 7” independent candidates said that if Bacolod City is claiming ownership, it should present documentary evidence by way of a land title.
The general rule here is that whoever’s name appears in the land title is the rightful owner, according to Novero.
He said that, in the case of Baywalk which is still working on the business permit application, the city should assist them on how to correct the deficiencies.
“The city should encourage the entry of investors because this means job generation and employment opportunities,” Novero said.
The Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City, chaired by Councilor Caesar Z. Distrito had scheduled the Public Hearing regarding the issues surrounding the operation of Bacolod Baywalk at the Reclamation area today. (CNC)
