Peña wants debate with Marañon alone

PULUPUNDAN Mayor Magdaleno Peña insisted he wants to have a debate with Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and not with the latter’s spokesman.
Lawyer Jose Ma. Valencia, spokesman of Marañon, was asked to debate with Peña but the spokesman said that would be irrelevant.
Marañon earlier challenged Peña to a debate and to settle the issues and allegations against each other.
Peña said, “Yes, I will be there (Capitol) on Monday. I will have a boxing match with Joeval (Valencia) at 10 a.m., and after five minutes I will have a debate with the governor (Marañon) on the issue of sheep purchase.”
“It was the governor who bought those overpriced and useless sheep from Australia and not Joeval (Valnecia) and I want the governor to make admissions during the debate, which I can use to incriminate him in the investigation in the Ombudsman and during trial at the Sandiganbayan,” said Peña.
Valencia, however, said the alleged overpriced sheep procurement had long been answered by the governor and provincial veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena.
"If they think there are irregularities, I think it is better that they bring it to the proper forum," Valencia added. (Butch S. Bacaoco, Teresa D. Ellera)
