EACH of the 474 Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) personnel who were deployed for poll duty last Monday will receive P1,800 subsistence allowance from the City Government through the Bacolod City Commission on Elections (Comelec), a police official said.

BCPO Spokesperson Supt. Armando Tubongbanua, in a press briefing at the BCPO Headquarters, said that the police deserve the subsistence allowance, as they performed well in keeping the whole electoral process peaceful and successful.

Without them, the city could not have maintained the peace and order during the polls, he added.

Tubongbanua is still unsure whether the 100 BCPO cops who augmented Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo) during the election will also get subsistence allowance.

He lauded the Bacolodnons as a peace-loving people because of the absence of election-related violence in the city during the entire election process. He also reiterated his earlier commendation to the Bacolod policemen for successfully applying the security measures from the start of the campaign period to the post-election activities which might have deterred the occurrence of election-related incidents.
