AN INVESTIGATION into the alleged molestation of minors at the Social Development Center (SDC) at the Bacolod City Police Office premises had been ordered by Acting Director Edgardo Ordaniel.
This, after the police received information that there were minors reportedly being maltreated or sexually molested while at the custody of SDC, hence, the Investigation and Detective Management Branch headed by Chief Insp. Ulysses Ortiz, will conduct the probe.
BCPO spokesperson, Supt. Jefferson Descallar, said the probe will focus whether there was indeed any molestation incidents.
When SDC head Social Welfare Officer III Gina Castro was asked for comment on the said report, she insisted there was no incident of molestation or maltreatment of minors inside the compound.
She added she had not received any report or complaint from the minors while in the custody of the center.
About 64 minors are now in the custody of SDC and most of them were nabbed for violation of the curfew ordinance, records show.
Castro also asked for an additional houseparent and police personnel to be assigned to the center, to ensure the security of minors and to prevent their possible escape. The presence of civilian police personnel is a big help, Castro said.
She said that she’s now also planning to meet with Ordaniel to address the concerns at the SDC.
