Saturday, September 7, 2013
LAWYER Jessie Suarez, Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Negros Occidental supervisor, said all approved applications of the election registration board in the province are ready for transport to the Comelec-Manila.
The applications are gathered at the Comelec provincial office.
Suarez, meanwhile, said all Comelec officers in Western Visayas have moved for the extension of the filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the October 28 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Suarez said the earlier schedule set by the Comelec for the filing of the COC which is from October 15 to 18 was very short given the number of barangays of the towns and cities in the province, and for the candidates to comply with the requirements that included notarized forms.
The new dates for the filing of COC will be from October 11 to 17 during office hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but it will not accept the filing of COC on October 13 which is a Sunday.
Suarez said candidates may file their COCs with the Office of the Election Officer having jurisdiction over the barangay where he or she is a candidate.
"The COC shall be filed in three legible copies with the office of the city/municipal election officer, Suarez said.
