VICE Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said they will submit to the Department of Energy (DOE) the resolution passed by the Provincial Board pertaining to the fuel price disparity in Negros.
The DOE is set to hold a consultative meeting with the stakeholders in the oil industry on higher price of fuels in Negros, compared to Cebu and Metro Manila, on Friday at the governor's conference room as confirmed by the Office of Rep. Albee Benitez (3rd District, Negros Occidental) who sought the DOE's attention.
Lacson said the Provincial Board members will be attending the hearing.
The coming to the province of the DOE officials was ordered by Secretary Jericho Petilla, after meeting with the Negros congressmen at the Office of Rep. Evelio Leonardia (Lone District, Bacolod).
Major oil companies in the province have temporarily imposed a price rollback of diesel fuel at P1 per liter and P3 per liter for gasoline on August 26 but this lasted for only two weeks.
The disparity is now back at P8 to P10 per liter. Enrique Pinongan, provincial administrator, on the other hand, said the provincial legal officer, Jose Maria Valencia, is now drafting the papers pertaining to its stand on the issue. He said that the price of fuels in the province must be the same, at least in Cebu.
Benitez, through a resolution, suggested for the creation of a task force that will monitor the pricing of fuels and some other relative moves to address the disparity issue in the province.
