SECURITY and public safety, as well as traffic plans are now in place to ensure a peaceful MassKara Festival celebration in Bacolod City in October, said Superintendent Jefferson Descallar, Safety, Security, Traffic and Discipline commander for the festivities.
He said they have involved the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, traffic enforcers, national support units and the community to help them ensure a successful staging of the MassKara.
They will also implement road closures along Lacson Street from October 17 to 20, and along San Juan to ensure the safety of visitors and the Bacoleños, he said.
Sharmaine Serrano, safety and security coordinator, said there will be medical stations to be put up near 10 staging areas in the different festival sites.
They will also designate emergency lanes along Lacson Street where ambulances will be on standby, particularly along 6th, 10th, 13th, 15th, 18th, and 21st streets.
Raul Garganera, representative of the Philippine Red Cross-Bacolod Chapter, will head the medical teams, Serrano added.
Participating groups who will serve as incident commanders along Lacson Street are the Amity and Chamber Volunteer Rescue Groups, Patrol 117, Philippine Red Cross, and Negros Rescue Federation.
Descallar said they will maximize their security personnel and involve force multipliers to prevent untoward incidents and will deploy K-9 dogs as part of their security planning.
