NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the first congressional district has been neglected by its representative that's why it lacks development especially in the hinterland areas.
Marañon made the statement after he personally travelled to Barangay Bug-ang, Toboso which is the site of the recent encounter between government troops and the New People's Army rebels.
The governor said the Provincial Government will pour in projects, especially road construction, as well as more livelihood projects in the areas to uplift the living condition of the residents in the area.
Because of the negligence of their representative, that could not be seen in his district, the situation there is worse than the feudal; they are neglected, Marañon said obviously referring to First District Representative Jules Ledesma. "I don't (know) where's the PDAF for the district goes," Marañon said.
He further pointed out that the provincial funds need the counterpart funds from the congressman of the district for more projects and for the development of the district.
Marañon was with the members and officials of the Philippine Army in Toboso to promote peace and progress in the area. Ledesma could not be reached for comment as of press time.
