BACOLOD City Police Office (BCPO) acting director Edgardo Ordaniel on Friday ordered all station chief to monitor candidates for the October 28 barangay elections.
Ordaniel said station chief should monitor the candidates running in their respective areas of responsibility.
The filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) started Friday and will end on October 17.
Ordaniel said they were required to submit to the Police Regional Office the names of barangay election candidates in Bacolod City.
He said they are ready to secure the peace and order of the election and had submitted to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) the list of police personnel and their specific assignments during the polls.
“BCPO will also monitor the possible political rivalry in different barangays to avoid any untoward incident,” the city police director said, as he reminded station commanders to intensify their visibility patrol to ensure the safety of candidates during the campaign.
“BCPO will also focus on the identified “areas of concern” in Bacolod City that include barangays Granada, Alangilan, Handumanan, Banago, and Vista Alegre,” Ordaniel added.
He had earlier requested the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas to revalidate the barangays because in the past barangay election, there was no reported significant incident, and this barangays were not included in the election watchlist.
The city director said there’s a possibility that the said barangays will be cleared from the list.
