Mayor orders removal of Ramos from Baciwa-A A +A
Tuesday, October 22, 2013
BACOLOD City Mayor Monico Puentevella has written Marichi Ramos ordering her removal as Director of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) representing the professional sector.
In his letter dated October 17, 2013, Puentevella said: "As the appointing authority in consonance with the law, I hereby order you removed as director of Baciwa effective immediately."
This came after the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), through its officer-in-charge Manuel Yoingco, denied the confirmation of Ramos’ appointment on the ground of "material misrepresentation" regarding her claim as a professional and the string of pending criminal cases against her which was taken as a gauge of her moral fitness to be in public service.
Puentevella's office interposed no objection and in fact concurs with grounds cited in the denial of the confirmation which were sufficiently explained and supported by pertinent documents, not to mention her own admission as quoted in the LWUA letter dated October 14, pursuant to Section 3 paragraph (b), section 9 and Section 12 of Presidential qualification of a person to become a director.
