THE Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) sets its 38th Annual General Membership Assembly on November 23 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum and in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Sulpicio Lagarde Jr., general manager of Ceneco, said consumers should attend the annual event so they would be aware of their accomplishments for year 2012.
This year’s theme is “Meeting the Challenges in the Power Industry with Competence and Integrity.”
Lagarde said that attendance to this annual assembly is also a requirement for those who intend to run as director to represent his/her district, citing NEA Memorandum 2009-011 entitled “Additional Qualification Requirements for Candidates to the EC Board of Directors and Officer/s of the Board” states that “attendance to at least two Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) within five years prior to the filing of one’s certificate of candidacy is now required for candidates to the board.”
Meanwhile, Lagarde explained that the hearing conducted by the Energy Regulatory Commission Thursday last week in Bacolod City was for the contract amendment applied for by power distributor Kepco-Salcon for the Fuel price Adjustment.
If approved by ERC, Lagarde said, power rates would increase by 16 Cebtavos per kilowatt hour for Ceneco consumers.
Kepco-Salcon during the hearing explained that their basis for the Fuel Cost Adjustment is due to the increase in the price of coal in the world market.
