Teacher in La Carlota faces sexual abuse raps-A A +A
Wednesday, November 6, 2013
COUNCILOR Rex Jalandoon of La Carlota City said he will bring up before the City Council the alleged sexual and child abuse cases filed against a teacher of La Carlota City South Elementary School.
Jalandoon confirmed the complaints based on a police blotter report for violation of Republic Act 7610 filed by the parents of eight pupils against Grade 6 teacher Carmelino Labtik.
The complaint is set to be filed in court, he said.
Based on records of the Women and Children Protection Desk of the La Carlota City Police Station, the complaint was filed on Sept. 30, 2013 and after that, Labtik was suspended by District Supervisor Portia Mallorca of the Department of Education.
One of the victims complained that he was sexually abused by the teacher on Aug. 15, 2013 when they stayed overnight at the school with him.
Similar complaints were allegedly lodged against the teacher in the schools where he was previously assigned.
Jalandoon said that he will deliver a privilege speech before the City Council during their regular session today so that his colleagues will be properly informed about the incident and will know what action to take.
He said that he has nothing against homosexual teachers so long as they don't abuse school children.
