Sagay, Binalbagan awarded best performing LGUs-A A +A

THE City of Sagay and the Municipality of Binalbagan were hailed as Best Performing City and Municipality in Negros Occidental, respectively, by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Office headed by Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag.
The two local government units (LGUs) received the recognition during the Pasidungog 2013-Provincial Excellence in Governance Award held Wednesday at Nature's Village Resort and Hotel in Talisay City.
Sagay City is headed by Mayor Alfredo Maranon III, son of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.
The younger Maranon was congressman of the province's second district before he was elected mayor in the May 2013 elections. His father is also a former mayor of Sagay City.
Binalbagan, a first class municipality, is headed by Mayor Emmanuel Aranda.
The governor congratulated the awardees and encouraged local officials in the province to work together for the good of their constituents.
Behind Sagay are Kabankalan City, which was adjudged first runner-up; San Carlos City, second runner-up; and Bago City, third runner-up.
Binalbagan was followed by Hinobaan, first runner-up; and Pulupandan, second runner-up.
Special awards went to Bago City and Pulupandan for Best in Administrative Governance; Sagay City and Isabela, Best in Social Services; Sagay City and Moises Padilla, Best in Economic Development; Bago City and Binalbagan, Best in Environmental Management; and Kabankalan City and Hinobaan, Best in Local Legislation.
The Pasidungog 2013 is a DILG program aimed at recognizing LGUs that show exemplary performance and innovations. It is a strategy initiated in recognizing best managed LGUs in the province by showcasing their achievements in Administrative Governance, Social Services, Economic Development, Environmental Management, and Local Legislation.
