NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Wednesday that the Provincial Board (PB) may approve the 2014 Provincial Budget amounting to P2.295 billion on its regular session on December 11.
The 2014 budget will be sourced from the General Fund amounting to P2.125 million that includes the P2.041 million Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) share of the province, the projected local income of P83.959 million, and the economic enterprise income of P169.84 million.
Lacson said they have also requested for a copy of the itemized budget of the proposed 20 percent Development Fund submitted by the Governor's Office for deliberation in the morning of December 11 before the session.
So far, Lacson said that he found nothing questionable in the proposed 2014 budget.
"We agreed that on December 11, we will again discuss and deliberate the 20 percent Development Fund," he said.
Of the P412.242 million Development Fund for 2014, P177.839 million has been set aside for debt servicing.
The remaining P234.402 million has been appropriated for the province's development programs and projects.
For next year, the Capitol has loan amortizations with the Land Bank of the Philippines amounting to P112.935 million; Development Bank of the Philippines, P62.904 million; and the Philippine National Bank, P2 million.
Meanwhile, a report submitted on Wednesday by the committee on budget and finance chaired by second district Board Member Salvador Escalante noted that during the presentation of the chiefs of hospitals of their budget, they also aired concerns about the lack of nurses and doctors, especially in orthopedics, overcrowding of patients, lack of morgues, supply room and laundry area, and generators, among others.
The committee also noted the report of the Task Force Ilahas about the ongoing development of new subdivisions, and the presence of illegal settlers in Don Salvador Benedicto town.
