Bacolod in ‘sound financial standing’-A A +A
Friday, December 6, 2013
BACOLOD City Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya said on Thursday the City Government is in sound financial standing based on the supplemental budgets approved by the City Council for the implementation of the projects of Mayor Monico Puentevella.
Gasataya said the City Council authorized Puentevella to utilize more than P100 million for his projects as indicated in the number of supplemental budget requests he submitted.
He said that in the past six months, the Puentevella administration has submitted five or six supplemental budget requests, all of which were approved by the City Council.
The vice mayor explained that the current administration utilized funds coming from budget surplus, unutilized savings, underestimated income, and local taxes.
“The facts will show for itself that there is fund for the current administration to use. We passed an appropriation ordinance of more than P94 million, excluding the recently approved more than P7 million supplemental budget,” Gasataya said.
The appropriation ordinance authorizing Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounted to P94.9 million, which includes individual appropriations amounting to P50 million, P40 million, P4.8 million, and P123,000.
As such, Gasataya said the earlier claim that the previous administration under former mayor Evelio Leonardia had left nothing to its successor is not true as shown in the city’s current financial standing attested by the City Treasurer’s Office, City Accounting Office and City Budget Office.
