THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) goes on full alert this Christmas season, especially during the celebration of dawn masses or the nine-day “Simbang Gabi” in Catholic churches starting today until December 24.
Senior Superintendent Edgardo Ordaniel, city police director, said both uniformed and plain clothes personnel are deployed in different churches to secure churchgoers.
Ordaniel said station commanders were also directed to maximize their visibility patrol operations in churches within their respective areas of jurisdiction.
He added that the BCPO also tapped the assistance of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPAT), village watchmen and other anti-crime volunteer groups to maintain the peace and order in the city during the Christmas holidays.
Ordaniel said the BCPO has also tightened its security operations after the attack of Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in two police stations in Misamis Occidental and Zamboanga del Sur last Saturday.
“All station chiefs of BCPO were directed to be on their toes and monitor their areas of jurisdiction and be vigilant against suspicious-looking persons,” the city police chief said.
Ordaniel said members of CPP-NPA ransacked the Don Victoriano Chiongban police station in Misamis Occidental and a police station in Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur Saturday morning.
