NegOcc is Western Visayas’ best performing province anew-A A +A

THE province of Negros Occidental was awarded Best Performing Province in Western Visayas anew during the Pagdayaw 2013 Search for Excellence in Local Governance (Excell) awarding rites Thursday in Iloilo City.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) also awarded the province with special awards: Excellence in Economic Governance, Environmental Governance, and Valuing the Fundamentals of Good Governance.
Negros Occidental also placed second runner-up in Administrative Governance and Social Governance.
The awards were received by Second District Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr.; DILG Provincial Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag; Regional Director Anthony Nuyda; newly-retired Regional Director Evelyn Trompeta; and Assistant Regional Director Margie Biligan.
Other awardees from Negros Occidental included the cities of Sagay, San Carlos, Bago, and Kabankalan.
In 2012, Negros Occidental also bagged the same award as Best Performing Local Government Unit-Province Category. It was also named champion in Administrative Governance, Economic Governance, and Valuing Fundamentals of Good Governance, and first runner-up in Environmental Governance.
