14 injured in Ceres bus accident-A A +A

AT LEAST 14 persons, including bus passengers, were injured in an accident involving a Ceres Liner bus, tricycle, and Isuzu truck at Purok Masagana, Barangay Bagumbayan, Valladolid, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) identified the injured as Rowen Sereneo, 21, Benjie Palacios, both residents of Barangay Tabao, Valladolid; Sanny Martin Mission, 25, Rico Mendoza, Edmar Patalita, 22, all of Bago City; Nerrie de Jaro Sr., 60, and his son Nerrie de Jaro Jr., both residents of Zamboanga del Sur; Romeo Barsillano, 23, Barangay Palaka, Valladolid; Reniel de Asis, 22, Sagua Banwa, Valladolid; Edward Allan Fortanilla, 32, of Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City; Flacido Mapa, 56, of Tanjay, Negros Oriental; Joemarie Dimaranan, 38, of Bacolod City; Edgardo Obsena, 52, of Mambukal, Murcia; and Katherine Sian Rosario, 18, of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.
All the victims were rushed to Valladolid District Hospital, but after several hours Palacios, Sereneo and Barsillano were transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, police said.
Investigation showed the Ceres bus with plate number GXR 598 and body number 7802 driven by Necomedes Distor, 37, of Calabnugan, Sibulan, Negros Oriental was traveling towards north.
Upon reaching Purok Masagana, Distor failed to notice the red tricycle driven by Sereneo running ahead of the bus.
When the bus driver tried to avoid a collision, he hit the tricycle and when he swerved to the left, bumped into a green Isuzu truck with plate number GFX 653 driven by Mission, police said.
Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, town police chief, could not be reached for interview as of this posting Monday.
