‘Celebrate simple but meaningful Christmas’-A A +A
Monday, December 23, 2013
NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. called on Negrenses to celebrate a simple but meaningful Christmas.
Marañon reiterated that Negrenses should be thankful that despite the natural calamities that happened in the country, the province was only slightly affected.
The province was spared from the havoc wreaked by super typhoon to other places like Tacloban and other parts of Leyte and Samar and even Panay, and the earthquake in Bohol.
The provincial Capitol employees canceled their annual Christmas Party this December and instead gave the budget intended for the party to the victims of Yolanda.
Marañon, meanwhile, reiterated his call on the New People's Army (NPA) rebels to return to the folds of the government as they have always been welcomed by his administration.
He said that the real enemy which everyone has to fight is poverty.
Livelihood assistance has been extended by the Provincial Government to the rebels who have surrendered to authorities.
