TWO suicide incidents were reported in Bacolod City this week, based on police reports.
A laundress allegedly hanged herself using a nylon rope at the main entrance of her boarding house at Purok Mars, Barangay Singcang-Airport Friday morning.
The victim was identified as Cherry Alegora, 35.
Senior Inspector Ser Ulrich Gelera, commander of Police Station 8, said that around 6 a.m., they received a call from a concerned citizen that Alegora's body was found.
Investigation showed that before the incident, the victim was confronted by her landlady Erlinda Gregorio, 41, asking her to pay her P500 debt.
Gelera said Gregorio told the victim to vacate her rented room because it will be occupied by her nephew. The landlady forced her to leave, took her belongings and placed them outside the door of her rented room.
The victim's body was found by her board mate around 6 a.m.
Further investigation revealed that the victim was suffering from depression because the house she was renting was previously owned by her family but it was sold by her father.
On Christmas day, a trisikad driver hanged himself also using a nylon rope inside his room at his residence in Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1, Bacolod City.
The victim was identified as Joy Alabado, 43.
Senior Inspector Jovil Sedel, commander of Police Station 2, said that around 6:30 p.m., the victim was observed to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
Sedel said the victim was found by his daughter hanging, with a nylon rope tied around his neck around 7 p.m.
The victim was brought to a nearby where he was declared dead by attending physicians.
Investigation showed that the victim was also a drug user, Sedel said.
