THE Bacolod City Council will hold a hearing on Tuesday on the city’s requirement for the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) to secure a Resolution of No Objection (Rono) for the new location of Casino Filipino Bacolod.
Chairman Caesar Distrito said the City Council will hear the side of the Pagcor and know whether it will secure a Rono or not, and his committee will come up with an evaluation afterwards.
On Wednesday, Pagcor inaugurated the Casino Filipino Bacolod at its new location inside the L’ Fisher Hotel on 15th-Lacson Streets.
Distrito said Pagcor already informed them that they forwarded the communication of the City Council to its legal department to seek legal advice.
He said one of their arguments is that their operation at L’Fisher
Hotel is not new since they have been operating there for several years already and only expanded their presence into a full casino gaming operation.
Distrito pointed out that Section 4 of the Charter of Pagcor requires them to secure the consent of the local government unit.
Pagcor chairman Cristino Naguiat Jr. said they are very open to whatever the SP will request from them.
Distrito said he is conducting the hearing on the basis of the resolution authored by Councilor Archie Baribar requiring Pagcor to secure a Rono from the SP.
As committee chairman, it is his responsibility to hear and give Pagcor a chance to explain before they take action, he said.
The City Council had passed two resolutions urging Pagcor to clarify of its reported transfer of casino operations and requiring it to secure a Rono.
It also passed a resolution informing Mayor Monico Puentevella of their stand on the transfer of the Pagcor to L’Fisher Hotel.
