A MASS is scheduled Monday as classes resume after a suicide incident at Trinidad Elementary School in Barangay Don Salvador Benedicto, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.
District supervisor Gideon Panganiban said the mass will be celebrated by the parish priest of Pontevedra church.
On January 20, teacher Harold Salas, 37, shot to death principal Jojit Gaudiel, 40, before killing himself.
The Department of Education-Negros Occidental Division Office, headed by Superintendent Juliet Jeruta, deployed its personnel to the school to conduct stress debriefing sessions for the teachers and pupils.
Gaudiel was laid to rest Saturday at the Pontevedra Catholic Cemetery while Salas is set to be buried on February 1.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson also called for stricter enforcement of gun control laws in Negros Occidental.
The police said Salas was separated from his wife and he was living alone, with his houseboy as his companion. His houseboy found a suicide note under the pillow of Salas inside his bedroom.
Police investigation showed that when Gaudiel was about to leave his office late Monday morning, Salas pointed at him a .38 snub nosed revolver.
Gaudiel attempted to run but he fell giving the suspect the chance to shoot him.
The suspect also tried to shoot his fellow teacher who tried to help their principal but his gun failed to fire. Salas then went inside a classroom and shot himself.
