THE National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) has approved the proposal to consider the Bacolod City Public Plaza and the San Sebastian Cathedral as historical sites, Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez said.
Lopez said there are about 25 requirements needed to comply for the official declaration, adding that they need the support of the City Engineer’s Office and the City Planning and Development Office.
The councilor also authored an ordinance that requires the installation of closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) in major streets and public areas in the city.
Mayor Monico Puentevella had earlier said he is planning to install CCTVs in the city’s major streets. The bidding for the project will be scheduled next week.
“I am happy to know that the mayor has taken cognizance of the fact that a CCTVs is really very important and could help in our traffic management and in terms of security and peace and order,” Lopez said.
Lopez said he has also asked the national government for funding for the implementation of the CCTV project and he will find out this month if his request has been approved.
He is also set to meet Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra. (CNC)
