FIVE families, who survived Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in Sagay City, will be among the 100 Filipino families that will be featured by The Earth Faces.

Earth Faces aims to uplift 100 Filipino families by sharing their Yolanda stories through photographs and videos. The video will weave together stories of those who lived through the storm, and those who did their best to help them.

The selected five families will be photographed in a mangrove location for a family portrait and their stories will be documented.

Tourism operations officer Cristine Mansinares told Sun.Star Bacolod that the team will arrive in Sagay today, Wednesday, to hold the shoot.

The subjects will be a mix of advocates, celebrities, media personalities, and survivors and families shot on location.

Celebrity photographer Niccolo Cosme of Headshot Clinic together with Dwight Henry Bayona and Ruma Kristine Arias, environmentalist Anna Oposa of Save Philippine Seas, Nory Joy Torres of Facial Care Center, and Dream Project PH founder Prim Paypon Jr. are expected to arrive today.

When Yolanda struck in November 2013, among the things found and lost were photographs: framed graduation portraits, solo shots, and family photos.

The photos and videos will serve as a reminder of hope and resilience for the survivors and the Filipino people.

The project also aims to raise awareness on climate change as a major contributor to the increased incidence and intensity of extreme weather events such as droughts, heat waves, floods, and tropical storms.
