DPWH: Sum-ag works to be completed in April-A A +A
Friday, March 28, 2014
DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson said they are doing their best to complete the remaining road and bridge works in the Sum-ag highway by April 2014.
In a letter to Bacolod Representative Evelio Leonardia, Singson also assured the legislator that lapses in the construction site that the former had raised have been addressed already.
These include the maintenance of a gravel detour road and the assignment of flagmen to keep the traffic flowing and the installation of warning and other signs to ensure order at the construction site.
Singson said the traffic plan covering the project required the contractors to provide these and they have been reminded to do so.
Earlier this year, Leonardia had asked the DPWH to hasten the construction works, saying they have gone far too long already to the inconvenience of motorists and the residents in the area.
The project which started on June 9, 2012 was supposed to have been completed last November 30, 2013, but was moved to March 15, 2013 and now April 2014.
I hope there will be no more extension of this deadline, Leonardia said.
The project covers two bridges and portions of the roads along the Sum-ag highway.
