A KOREAN national, who was the suspect of killing a woman in the Mercenary Inn in Bacolod City, was released Tuesday from the custody of Police Station 8 (PS8) after his reglementary period had lapsed.
Senior Inspector Ser Ulrick Gelera, commander of PS8, said Han Taeh Young, 35, resident in Barangay Villamonte, was released around noon Tuesday.
He said Young is the suspect in the killing of Liezyl Joy Lipat, alias Christina Hormillosa, 22, of Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Based on the death certificate issued by Dr. Ely Cong, Gelera said the victim has a head injury.
He added that they believe there was a foul play in the victim’s death, although they are still waiting for the autopsy report.
Lipat was found dead Sunday afternoon inside a room of Mercenary Inn at Liroville Subdivision, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
Investigation showed the victim and Young checked in at Room 118 around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Just before midnight, Young left and came back Sunday night which was hours after his companion was found dead.
Gelera said the suspect may face homicide charges, but since he has been released, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will have to coordinate with the Korean embassy on how to hold the suspect’s possible departure.
Senior Superintendent Larry Decena, acting director of BCPO, said the initial investigation revealed the Korean national allegedly uttered the words “kill the baby.”
Several medicines were also recovered from the crime scene, Decena said. (MAP)
