THE Cabiao police station in Nueva Ecija believed the ashes they found last week were that of a Negrense woman, whose body was allegedly burned after she was beheaded.
In a radio interview, the police said the ashes were found behind the house of the brother of the employer of Maribel Alpas, 31 of Barangay Asia, Hinobaan.
The police said that further investigation is being conducted to confirm if the ashes were that of Alpas.
Alpas was instructed by her Filipino employer, who is based on London, to get some documents in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija so that she could bring the documents when she goes back to London, where she worked as baby sitter for the two children of her Filipino employers.
Police investigation showed the suspect, who is the brother of Alpas’s female employer, fetched the victim at the airport when she went to Nueva Ecija from Negros. He, who remains at large, is facing murder charges, said Hinobaan Mayor Ernesto Estrao. Read the related story here
The victim's male employer is already under investigation and was not allowed to report to the hospital where he is working.
The female employer said they were surprised of Alpas’s death, saying they have been expecting her to return to London, the police said.
The victim's female employer may also be investigated as she could be the mastermind after the police received reports that she was jealous of Alpas because of the alleged "special attention" given by her husband to the victim.
