PRESIDENT Benigno S. Aquino III may lead the inauguration of the Negros First Cyber Centre in May 15, the day he is confirmed to arrive in the province to inaugurate a solar plant in San Carlos City.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said Tuesday that the Office of the President have been making inquiries about the Cyber Centre which is almost complete at this time.
"Since he will be here, we proposed that he lead the inauguration of the Cyber Centre,” the governor said.
The three-storey Information Technology (IT) complex is expected to start its operations in June this year.
He said the Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has approved the complex’s funding which cost P157.5 million for its second phase development.
He added the structure is almost complete, except for the installation of the air-conditioning system, standby generator, generating sets, and parking area.
The IT complex, whose first phase development costs P450 million, will have 10,000 square meters (sqm) of rentable BPO space, 6,000 sqm of commercial spaces or 120 stalls, and 1,000 sqm of incubation for start-up or small companies.
The governor said a number of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms have signified their interest to lease spaces in the Cyber Centre.
The bidding for the commercial lease on the first floor of the Cyber Centre will be announced soon, he added.
Aside from being invited to grace the Cyber Center opening, the President was also requested to attend the inauguration of a diversion road in Sagay City which was realized through the funding of the National Government under the Aquino administration.
