VICE President Jejomar Binay reminded members of the Boys Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental that they have been called to undertake a noble mission.
Binay was the honored guest at the 58th Boy Scout Annual Council Meeting held at the L’Fisher Hotel Tuesay.
“My fellow scouts we have been called to undertake this noble mission not only because we have the skills needed to succeed but because we have the most steadfast hearts,” he told the Boy Scouts during his speech.
Binay further said, “We must always strive to prove that scouting is more than relevant today that it was during its inception. We must take the whole nation see and feel that it drives the youth to create a more humane work, a more care work and a more generous work.”
During the event, he was joined by Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella, Fifth District Board Member Alain Gatuslao, who represented Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Bascon, chairman of the Boys Scout Council in Negros Occidental, and Alfredo Gonzales, chairman of the Boys Scout Council in Bacolod City.
Gatuslao and Bascon said they are proud to be the grandsons of Boy Scout advocate, former Vice Governor Miguel Gatuslao, who served as a delegate of BSP to Athens in 1968.
Gatuslao, who delivered the governor’s message, told the Boy Scouts officials: “You have taken the challenge to help the Boy Scout organization in honing our young people to become diligent, hardworking, productive and trustworthy individuals. We salute the Boy Scout of the Philippines for its steadfast commitment in continuously educating our young people to become responsible and productive individuals.”
