TWO of the three detainees, one of them a minor, who bolted the detention cell of Bago City Police Station 2 Thursday evening were recaptured Friday morning.

Bago City Police Station Chief Superintendent Arnel Arpon identified Friday the two escapees as Emil Pacheco, 18, and an 17-year-old minor, both residents of Purok Langka, Barangay Caridad, Bago City.

Leonardo Ramos Jr., 32, of Purok Cherry Blossom, Barangay Calumangan, who is facing theft charges, is still at-large.

Arpon said Pacheco and the minor were arrested at their residence around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Jailer Senior Police Officer 2 (SPO2) Jose Ma. Antonio Ramos discovered around 6:45 p.m. Thursday the three detainees had escaped. The three were able to unlock the cell by using a nail cutter to pick the padlock. They left through the back exit of the police station.

Arpon said a tracker team was immediately formed that resulted to the apprehension of the two suspects while a manhunt operation against Ramos is still ongoing.

Pacheco and the minor were arrested by the Bago City police last week after they robbed a lending firm in the city and took P10,000 cash.

Both of them were charged for robbery with intimidation with a bail of P100,000 each, Arpon said.

Further investigation revealed that the minor has a standing arrest warrant for robbery in band with P40,000 bail.

Arpon said that Ramos was arrested by the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station last week for theft, and he was endorsed to Bago City Police Station after they found out that the suspect has pending theft charges in said city.

The police believe that Pacheco and the minor were responsible for opening the padlock and they encouraged Ramos to go with them.

Arpon said they are waiting for the commitment order of the minor so they can endorse him to the Juvenile Detention Center in Guimaras.

He added that they also coordinated with the family of Ramos, however, the suspect did not see them after his escape. His family assured the police that they will endorse the suspect to the Bago police once he will surface at their house.

Arpon also ordered jail officer Ramos to submit his explanation within 24 hours. He said Ramos was relieved from his post and was reassigned to the Barangay Caridad team tasked to apprehend the at-large suspect. (MAP)
