A COUPLE was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the police at Purok Narra Baybay, Barangay 8, Bacolod City around 4 p.m. Monday.
Police identified the suspects as Anthony Gayatao, 44, and his live-in partner Thelma Tabudlong, 43, both residents of the same village.
Senior Inspector Jose Mulleta, head of City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Group (CAIDSOTG), said Gayatao handed to a police poseur-buyer a small plastic sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P200.
In a follow-up operation, Gayatao’s live-in partner was also arrested inside his house for selling of illegal drugs.
Police recovered from the suspects six sachets of shabu, P6,640 cash, the P200 marked money, and two units of cellular phone.
Almost two months of surveillance operations were conducted to neutralize the couple, who are formerly fish vendors, Mulleta said.
He said the couple was tested positive for drug use, and the recovered items were tested positive of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
The police are preparing the documents for the filing of charges against Gayatao for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Gayatao’s live-in partner will also be charged for violation of Section 11 of R.A. 9165, Mulleta said.
