THE performance of Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella has been rated as satisfactory by the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) as he delivers his State of the City Address (Soca) on Wednesday afternoon.
Today also marks the mayor’s 68th birthday.
MBCCI president Frank Carbon said that overall, he gives the Puentevella administration a score of 7 to 8 out of 10.
He said they have seen a remarkable result in the traffic management with the installation of traffic lights at intersections, and the regular maintenance of old traffic lights.
Traffic enforcers are visible and more of them are now deployed, he added.
"These are very basic and doable things but it means a lot to the public and motorists," he said.
Carbon said the garbage collection has also been given the needed attention.
"It is not that perfect but at least the indiscriminate throwing of garbage in the streets was minimized," he added.
Carbon also mentioned that cleanliness and sanitation in public markets should be continuously done because this is the "kitchen of Bacolod," adding that many still go to public markets because the prices are cheaper.
"The City Government should continue to do good on this aspect," he said.
Regarding the processing of business permits, Carbon said that although the procedure has been improved and the processing time has been reduced, the business sector still wants to see more improvement.
"This will entice other business operators to legitimize their operation once the processing of the business permit will be fast and convenient to the applicant," he said.
Carbon added: "These suggestions can be applied next year by the administration."
