UNIDENTIFIED men carted away several units of personal computers and their accessories from the Municipal Treasurer’s Office of Cauayan Thursday morning, the police said.
Superintendent German Garbosa, chief of Cauayan Municipal Police Station, said the robbery was discovered by a utility worker at around 5 a.m.
He said the robbers destroyed the window grilles at the back of the Treasurer’s Office.
Missing were three units of Central Processing Unit (CPU), two units of computer monitor, and their accessories.
Garbosa said he believes the suspects were amateurs because they didn’t steal the money inside the office.
“There was money inside the office, but the robbers just carted away the computers. Maybe it was just for ‘tripping’,” he said.
Mayor John Rey Tabujara ordered Garbosa to tighten security measures in the municipal hall to pre-empt similar incidents.
Garbosa said two policemen were assigned to the municipal hall to conduct roving patrol operations, and they will strictly implement the curfew for minors starting 10 p.m.
He added that they are still conducting further investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects.
In previous weeks, robbers also entered the Bago City Mayor’s Office and carted away video and still cameras and their accessories. The Escalante City Hall Cash Division also lost cash and checks worth about P2 million to robbers in July.
