Elderly woman robbed, killed in Bacolod

AN ELDERLY woman was robbed and killed by an unidentified man inside her house at Bugnai Street, La Salle Avenue in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, on Sunday.

Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 4, identified the fatality as Virginia Sumagan, 69.

Bonilla said the victim was alone when the robber entered her house around 2 a.m.

The robber carted away a portable stereo worth P1,000, jewelry amounting to P10,000, a pair of shoes worth P2,000, a cellular phone, and wallet containing an undetermined amount of cash.

The victim was injured when found by her son inside her room just before 3 a.m.

Bonilla said the victim was strangled using a handkerchief and bitten based on the injuries found on her body.

She was brought to a hospital, where she was declared dead.
