A DRUG ex-convict was shot by an agent of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) when he resisted arrest during a buybust at West Boloc-Boloc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental Sunday night.

Police identified the injured suspect as Johnny Teves, who was arrested with Joycy Cimafranca.

Police records showed that Teves sold shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a PDEA agent for P1,000 around 11:35 p.m.

While he was being arrested, Teves tried to seize the firearm of a PDEA agent, prompting the latter to shoot the suspect on the leg.
Teves was brought to a hospital.

Operatives also recovered from the suspects three sachets of shabu weighing 15 grams amounting to P60,000, the P1,000 marked money, boodle money, and a wallet.

Charges are being readied against both suspects.

In Negros Occidental, a top drug personality of Escalante City Police Station was arrested in a buy-bust at Purok Riverside, Barangay Rafaela Barrera, Sagay City Sunday.

Police records showed that Ryan Carnecer, 31, of Purok Kalye Broca, Old Escalante, Escalante City yielded four sachets of shabu, cellular phone, marked money, and P16 cash.

Carnecer has a standing warrant for the same violation at Escalante City.
