Woman dead in gun shot by ex-lover; partner hurt

A WOMAN died while her partner was hurt after her former lover shot them inside their house at Purok Medalya Milagrosa, Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod City Sunday night.

Police identified the fatality as Maricar Marañon, 27, of Barangay Poblacion in the neighboring Bago City, and the injured as Melchor Flores, 48.

Police said the couple were sleeping when Jose Rommel Jolito, 43, of Barangay Pacol, Bago City kicked the door and entered the couple’s house around 11 p.m.

Jolito threatened Flores at gun point, but the latter pushed away the firearm.

It fell and went off, hitting Flores as well as Marañon, who was asleep.

Jolito escaped on board a tricycle together with an unidentified male companion.

Stabbed by a woman

In another development, a village chief in Negros Oriental was stabbed by a woman at Barangay Bagtic, Mabinay town Sunday night.

Police identified the victim as barangay captain Jomelito Nicolas of Lukay, Manjuyod town.

Nicolas was walking home around 8:30 p.m. when he was waylaid by Grace Gerson of Barangay 1, Tanjay City and her two companions, police records showed.

Gerson then stabbed Nicolas on his stomach and fled. Nicolas is confined at a hospital.

Before the incident, Nicolas and Gerson had a heated argument. (GYM)
