LA CASTELLANA Mayor Rhumyla Mangilimutan on Thursday, June 15, said the municipal government will avail of the P80-million loan from the Municipal Development Fund Office of the Department of Finance for the town’s solid waste management program.
Mangilimutan said she will seek authority from the Sangguniang Bayan to obtain the loan.
The Municipal Council will approve the resolution next week, she added.
Mangilimutan said that part of the loan will be used to acquire heavy equipment such as loader, garbage compactor, and dump truck.
The town will also acquire a land for the sanitary landfill.
“Garbage disposal has been a problem so we want to address it. We have been doing waste segregation,” Mangilimutan said.
She added that the municipal government is providing a solid waste management assistance of P100,000 for the big barangays and P50,000 for the smaller ones.
Mangilimutan, mwenwhile, said the municipal government will launch a motherly approach of drug campaign.
“We will do away with the shame campaign, but rather do a motherly approach which will involve the whole family,” she said.
The mayor said though that the drug situation in La Castellana is not that alarming.
