THE bodies of a female teacher and a driver of motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) were found, a day after they went missing in Himoga-an River at Barangay Bato, Sagay City, Negros Occidental Friday, July 14.
Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto Jr., head of Sagay City Police Station, said the body of Rona Beleganio, 23, of Barangay Himoga-an Baybay, was retrieved around 9:30 a.m. while that of Clodealdo Abesamis, 58, of Barangay Baviera, was found around 4 p.m. Saturday, July 15.
They were found by nearby residents who helped the rescuers in the search operations.
Beleganio and Abesamis were on their way to school when they fell on the Himoga-an overflow while trying to avoid another motorcycle.
Mansueto said Beleganio’s body was found several meters away from the Himoga-an overflow while Abesamis’s remains was found floating in the vicinity.
They drowned and had no other injuries, he added.
Mansueto said their bodies will be subjected to a post-mortem examination.
Fisherman found dead
In another development, a fisherman who was reported missing Friday at Barangay Tuburan, E.B. Magalona town was found dead at sea Sunday, July 16.
Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral Jr., town police chief, said Ricarido de la Cruz, 63, of the same village, went fishing around 2 p.m. two days earlier when he probably fell from his motorboat due to strong winds.
He was found by rescuers and residents around 7:40 a.m. Sunday.
