Distrito urges BCPO to solve robbery cases

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

BACOLOD City Councilor Caesar Distrito urged the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to double the effort to solve the robbery incidents.

Distrito said a hold-up incident over the weekend went viral on social media, showing unidentified men robbing victims on board a motorcycle in the area of Police Station 1.

“Even if it is near the police station, the suspects are not afraid to operate,” he said, adding that policemen should be aggressive in solving robbery incidents.

Distrito noted that Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of BCPO, informed him that Bacolod will be given an additional 100 policemen from Negros Island Region.

The councilor said he urged policemen to intensify visibility patrol at the downtown area, Lacson Street, East area as well as in Shopping area.

He added that traffic policemen should also be more proactive in responding to crimes.

“They should be in the streets and visible rather than just stay in the office, and will just go if there is traffic accident,” Distrito added.

Policemen should also be aggressive in filing charges against criminals as a deterrent to crimes, he said.

Distrito also urged policemen to strictly enforce the curfew for minors to avoid letting them become victims of crimes, and violators like in gang wars.
