THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will implement improvements in the construction of 2018 projects to avoid inconvenience to the public.
District Engineer Abraham Villareal, head of DPWH-Bacolod, said on Sunday, September 17, he discussed with Representative Greg Gasataya that starting next year, they will require the contractors who engage in digging, drainage excavation, and reblocking to just make holes in the portion of the road that are ready for excavation.
"They should not make holes in sections that are not ready for construction to avoid inconvenience to the public," he said.
Villereal said that they received several complaints that some contractors are making holes in various roads and leave it open for more than two weeks.
He said they will also require the contractors to install safety barriers as preventive measures.
Villareal added that the road projects should have lights during night time to avoid untoward incidents.
"We will compel the contractors to make these improvements," he added.
