Policeman injured in accidental firing

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

A POLICEMAN was injured in an accidental firing at the Market Place beside the Bacolod Government Center in Bacolod City early Monday morning, September 18.

Wounded was Police Officer 1 Marty Nadado of Candoni town. He is part of the personnel of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas assigned at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.

Chief Inspector Ritchie Gohee, head of Police Station 4, said Nadado was drinking with his three friends in a restobar, and they decided to go home at 1:20 a.m.

While Nadado was fixing his pants, his service firearm fell and went off, hitting him on the leg.

He sustained a lone gunshot wound and was rushed to a private hospital.

Gohee said Nadado’s .9 mm Taurus service firearm was placed in the custody of the station investigator.

It will be turned over to the PRO-Western Visayas in Iloilo City once the investigation is finished, he added.
