3 ‘hold-uppers’ arrested in Bacolod

Saturday, September 30, 2017

THREE men were arrested in a hot pursuit operation after they robbed three persons in separate incidents in Bacolod City Thursday, September 28, police said.

Collared were Crisanto Primavera, 21; Jerry Arabello, 26; and Ronniel Antiquin, 18, all residents of Barangay Handumanan.

Senior Inspector Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said the suspects were cornered at Purok Cabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan around 11 p.m. after a brief chase.

They robbed at gunpoint a 17-year-old boy in a store at Barangay Alijis at 9:45 p.m., taking his cellular phone and P800 sales collection.

Prior to that, the same suspects robbed a businesswoman in Barangay Mansilingan around 9:30 p.m., stealing her cellular phone and P600 in cash.

They were all positively identified by both victims.

Recovered from the three suspects were a .38 caliber revolver, a bolo, three sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), six live ammunition, a motorcycle, and the stolen items.

Charges for robbery and for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the three suspects who are detained at Police Station 7.

Chief Inspector Ritchie Gohee, head of Police Station 4, said Antiquin was also identified by a 19-year-old male student whom he robbed.

The victim was on his way to a computer shop from his boarding house in Barangay Villamonte. Antiquin carted away the victim’s cellular phone.

Additional charges for robbery hold-up will be filed against Antiquin.

Another robber also victimized a 29-year-old frame maker on his way to buy food in Barangay Villamonte on the same evening. The assailants on a motorcycle took the victim's cellular phone and P200 cash.

Gohee said Antiquin was also identified by a professor from Davao City, whom he robbed last week.

The victim and his two colleagues were waiting for a taxi in front of a coffee shop on a rainy Friday evening when the robbery took place.

Antiquin was also previously charged for robbery and rape when he harassed a couple in Barangay Handumanan, a few years ago when he was still a minor.

He was placed under the custody of Social Development Center, but escaped when he learned that he will be transferred to a jail once he reached 18.

In a span of two days, eight robbery hold-up cases happened in the city all perpetrated by suspects on a motorcycle.

Police urged other complainants of hold-up cases to coordinate with them to determine if the same suspects victimized them.

At Barangay 21, a man was injured after he was stabbed and robbed by an unidentified man on the same night.

Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 1, said it was not considered a hold-up case because the commission of the crime is different from robbery.

Two persons were arrested after they were caught in possession of a bag containing a laptop worth P35,000 and P10,000 in cash when they robbed a house in Barangay Alijis early Friday morning.

Police identified the suspects as Jasper Ponje and Jaymart Suresca.

On Friday afternoon, Sarona said another hold-up incident happened at Barangay Vista Alegre around 3 p.m. perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects.
