Awol cop nabbed for drugs

Friday, October 06, 2017

A POLICEMAN who had gone absent without leave (Awol) was arrested on Tuesday, October 3, for illegal drugs in Barangay 35, Bacolod City.

Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 1, identified the suspect as Police Officer 1 Marlon Cuambot.

He was previously assigned at the Regional Mobile Group.

Armed with an arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, operatives collared Cuambot after he was sighted in the said village through intelligence surveillance.

Cuambot was the subject of a drug bust in Barangay 16 last July that led to the recovery of several sachets of suspected "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride), but he was able to escape.

He is detained at the station.
