Friday, November 10, 2017

A MAN was arrested for posing as a government employee and for illegally possessing firearms and ammunition in Barangay Bubog, Talisay City, Negros Occidental Wednesday.

Collared was Bethoven Badian, 43, of Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City.

His apprehension came after he pretended to be an employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and took the automated teller machine (ATM) cards of the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) program, police records showed.

Complainants surfaced after the suspect withdrew money using their ATM cards.

Recovered from his possession were a .45 caliber loaded with a magazine and eight live ammunition and a motorcycle as a get-away vehicle.

The suspect also victimized individuals in Bacolod City as he introduced himself as an employee of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, and an engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and usurpation of authority will be filed against Badian, who is detained at the station.
