Capitol to give P2-million additional aid to Marawi

Thursday, November 16, 2017

ACTING Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said Wednesday the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will give an additional P2-million financial assistance Marawi City for its rehabilitation after the five-month siege.

Gelvolea said that Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has asked Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado to look for source of funds for the Marawi donation before the year ends.

She said the Provincial Government has deposited P1 million to the account of the Department of Social Welfare and Development which was given during the height of war in Marawi.

Marañon has asked the approval of the Provincial Board for the P2-million additional assistance, Gelvolea said.

The governor had earlier launched the “Negros Cares” fund-raising campaign for Marawi which was his pledge to President Rodrigo Duterte during the latter’s visit to Bacolod City on October 22.

Gelvolea said the campaign continues and the provincial government is still receiving help for Marawi.
