Bacolod cops beef up security for holidays

Monday, December 04, 2017

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is intensifying its security measures for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of BCPO, said there will be police presence during the "Simbang Gabi" or dawn masses in churches and other places of convergence.

The traditional dawn masses are held from December 9 to 16.

Ebreo said augmentation forces from the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB)-Western Visayas are being deployed in terminals, markets, shopping malls and other vital installations to ensure peace and order this holiday season.

He also advised policemen not to be complacent and to always be on alert.

Ebreo said he directed police chiefs to also assign station personnel in designated areas to ensure that there will be 24 hours of duty.

The BCPO will maximize its existing 680 personnel, he added.

A red team from the headquarters will conduct an inspection to monitor and check the deployment of policemen in their designated assignments.

"Any police officer who fails to do his or her job will be sanctioned accordingly as part of the internal disciplinary mechanism," Ebreo said.
