A YOUNG man died while another was injured in separate shooting incidents in Negros Occidental.

In Talisay City, Bernie Cris Elarde, 23, of Hacienda Aloyan, Cadiz City, was shot to death by three unidentified men at Hacienda Granada in Barangay Matab-ang Wednesday morning.

Investigation showed that Elarde was working in a sugarcane field when the assailants arrived and fired at him. He succumbed to head injuries.

Police recovered from the scene two fired cartridges.

In E.B. Magalona town, a 27-year-old man was shot by two unidentified men on a motorcycle in a relocation site at Barangay Mantaangan around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Injured was Jerry Boy Ello of Purok 5 in the said village.

Senior Inspector Rhojn Darell Nigos, town police chief, said Ello and his younger brother together with a friend were walking home from a fiesta in the adjacent village.

Ello was hit in the back and was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

Nigos said they already have persons of interest, but they are still validating their identities based on the description and statement of a witness.

Police said grudge could be the motive.
