Eggs offered for good weather during MassKara

SILVER MassKara Festival Organization Inc. director Eli Francis Tajanlangit offered eggs at the Carmelite Monastery for good weather within the duration of the 31st MassKara festival in Bacolod City.
Tajanlangit said this has been his religious practice being a Catholic devotee.
The start of the MassKara festival last October 1, 2010 was welcomed with a slight drizzle but it did not hamper the grand fireworks display that capped the opening rites.
The festival will run for 19 days and Tajanlangit said he always pray for the success of the festival through offering of eggs at Carmelite Monastery and also to St. Therese and Padre Pio, his patron saints.
Tajanlangit said for the last six years, MassKara festival was blessed with sunshine even if it rains at the beginning of the festival.
The highlights of the festival include the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Bacolod Feast at San Sebastian Cathedral on October 10, 2010, where there will be a procession at 6 p.m. and fireworks display after.
The MassKara queen pageant and coronation night will be at 7 p.m. in USLS Coliseum on the same day.
October 15 is Supercat Day: There will be a whole day Market-Market Pana-ad October Bonanza at Pana-ad Park; Lights On: Electric MassKara 2010 at Lacson St. Tourism Strip, 6 p.m.; Electric MassKara Float competition, 7 p.m.; and Majica MassKara and live bands all at the Lacson tourism strip.
October 16 is Super Ferry Day: There will be the staging of the MassKara street dance competition school category from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. along Araneta Street to the Public Plaza; Electric MassKara float parade, 6 p.m.; and Majica MassKara, 7 p.m. at the Lacson Street Tourism Strip.
October 17 is Globe Day: The MassKara street dance competition, barangay category will be held at Araneta St. to Public Plaza starting 4 p.m.
October 18 is Coke Day: There will be countdown to the 72nd Charter Day Giant Street Party celebration at the new government center.
And October 19 is the 72nd Charter day anniversary celebration of the City of Bacolod. (Carla N. Canet)
