Guv to ask Aquino’s support for Fabrica bridge

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. will ask support for the construction of a proposed P120 million new Fabrica bridge in Sagay City from President Benigno Aquino during his visit in the province on November 3.
Marañon said the existing Fabrica bridge is already dilapidated and can no longer accommodate heavy load.
His plan is to retain the old bridge because of its historical value and that a new bridge will be constructed downstream and will connect to Hda. San Agustin. The new bridge will shorten the travel from Bacolod to Sagay City by about two kilometers.
Aside from the bridge in Sagay City, Maranon said, he will discuss with the President about the concern of local farmers about the low price of palay and the reason why the National food Authority (NFA) stopped the buying of palay. He said he will also discuss with the President some concerns in the sugar industry.
Marañon said, the final schedule of the President's visit may be known this week from the Presidential Management Staff.
