MAYOR Evelio Leonardia said Friday the dismissal of the Department of Agrarian Reform Adjudication Board (Darab) case is an expected thing.
He said when complaints blown up, “we already know that it’s just a harassment or dilatory scheme to sabotage the projects of the City Government.”

Last March 5, Provincial Agrarian Reform Adjudicator, Isagani Cuello, dismissed the case filed before the office of DARAB for the issuance of the ancillary remedy of restraining order or writ of preliminary injunction against the Arao property owners.
The case was filed by complainants Elsie Guanco, spouses Alan Cuyos and Ma. Fe Cuyos, Alteo Perez and Antonio Perez, Jr. for the declaration of nullify of sale and injunction with prayer against Arao property owners Nellie Antigua, Romanita Andal, Lynette Punzalan, Sonia Arao, Anelie Arao, Elisieta Arao, Aniano Arao Jr., Eugenio Arao, Sophie Nguyen, and Eva Gumtang.
The group also included in the case the City Government, the PVB, and the Register of Deeds.
Leonardia said the complainants have no other intentions but to sabotage and to delay the projects of the city government, “we had always been confident that ultimately it would be dropped.”
He added: “Hopefully those people who are trying to oppose the projects of the city government will realize that the beneficiaries of the said program are the informal settlers of the city.”
Leonardia appealed to the politicians who are opposing the programs of the City Government to consider the welfare of the squatters and stop sabotaging it.
“The acquisition of Arao property for a relocation site of the city is legal, which it’s logical place that it’s adjacent to the existing relocation site, Abada Escay. If this property would be developed, we will hit two birds in one stone,” said Leonardia.
Leonardia added that before the election ban, the City Government could start the construction of the development site of the Arao property.
